Casting Call: Deaf Talent for Lead & Supporting Roles in Feature Film
Job Detail: Join an upcoming BBC and BFI-backed feature film as we seek exceptional Deaf talent for lead and supporting roles. This project is dedicated to showcasing the diversity and skill of the Deaf community, and you will be part of a narrative that embraces authenticity and inclusion.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the director and production team to bring the characters to life.
- Engage with script readings and translate them into British Sign Language (BSL) or German Sign Language (DGS) as required.
- Attend rehearsals and be committed to the filming schedule.
- Collaborate with other actors and crew members to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.
Requirements:
- You must be UK-based Deaf or Hard of Hearing (HoH) talent.
- Open to any gender and ethnicity between the ages of 21 and 50 years old.
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is required.
- For one role, the ability to sign in German Sign Language (DGS) is required.
- No previous acting experience is necessary; both seasoned actors and non-actors are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: The roles are paid, and compensation will be in line with Equity/cinema rates. Specifics regarding payment will be discussed during the hiring process and detailed in the contract.

Requirements

Must be comfortable being filmed in public, outdoor conditions.

Ability to take direction, remain focused, and repeat actions for multiple takes.

For runner roles: must be able to jog/run comfortably as needed for scenes.

Must be able to provide your own wardrobe that fits the requested early-2000s marathon vibe (guidance/mood board referenced by production).
