Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and creative Design Assistant to join our production and marketing team. As a Design Assistant, you will provide valuable support to our design department, assisting in the creation, development, and execution of various design projects. You will work closely with the CEO and head designer, collaborating to execute print, product, and marketing designs and contributing to the overall visual aesthetic of our brand. We are seeking a highly creative and talented individual with a passion for design to gain hands-on experience and grow within a fast-paced company. You will be responsible for aiding in the final design of the following: children’s books, puzzles, games, apparel print design, marketing materials, catalogs, mailers, and store signage under the guidance of the lead designer and marketing manager.

Responsibilities:

Assist the production team in creating and developing design concepts, including graphics, illustrations, mood boards, layouts, and other visual materials.

Assist the lead designer in getting production designs print ready for the factories.

Collaborate with the design and marketing team to brainstorm and generate creative ideas for new design projects and product collections.

Research and gather relevant design references, trends, and inspiration to contribute to the design process, creating a mood board for collections and presenting to lead designer.

Assist in the production of design assets, ensuring they meet quality standards and brand guidelines.

Prepare and format design files for both print and digital use.

Provide general administrative support to the design and marketing team, including organizing files, maintaining design libraries, and managing design project schedules.

Assist in creating presentations and visual materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and main competitors, design techniques, and software advancements to continuously enhance design skills and knowledge.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members, such as marketing, sales, product development, and production, to ensure design projects are aligned with overall brand objectives.

Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, fostering creativity and open communication.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design (or equivalent experience)

Previous experience as a Design Assistant or in a similar role is preferred, but not mandatory.

Proficiency in design software is a must : Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Must know Mac

Strong visual and conceptual design skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.

Knowledge of current design trends, color theory, typography, and layout principles.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and receive feedback constructively.

Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Flexibility and adaptability to evolving project requirements and changing priorities.

A portfolio of previous design work or relevant design projects is highly desirable.

Compensation Details:

  • Ultra-low-budget rates in accordance with ULB guidelines. Specific rates will be provided upon offer.
