Responsibilities :
Responsibilities include providing logistical and editorial production support for all aspects of News Magazine production. We are a collaborative show, where team members work together to create an end result. Respect for and collaboration with others is essential. Production skills include, but are not limited to- setting up and participating in field shoots, gathering and organizing elements for edit, booking guests, supporting editors with media, writing, and participating in a collaborative production process. Our content varies from character-driven true crime mysteries, to newsmaker interviews, to coverage of high profile stories. An interest in the greater world around you in essential. Candidates are expected to be able to travel at times, and join our breaking news 2020 specials.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Strong communication and organization skills are a must.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Candidates must be able to multi-task and have sound editorial judgment.
  • The ability to communicate with and work well with others is a must in our collaborative environment.
  • An interest in growing skills in longform production

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in long-format production is a plus.
  • Experience with shooting on various formats and a basic knowledge of Avid editing is also preferred.

Marcom Associate Producer (12 Month Contract Role)

The Associate Producer, will be responsible for helping the Video & Design Producer with their daily responsibilities. These tasks will range from tracking daily asset pipeline workflow to working with internal partners on approvals and schedules.

Qualifications:

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Content Production – Help create, organize and execute the production of video and design assets; Key Art, Icons, Game play trailers, PBM Videos, Screenshots
  • Maintain Toolset – Maintain the tools we use on a day to day basis
  • Liaise daily between cross function teams
  • Daily tracking of all assets and approvals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum 6 years of experience in news production, people management and operations at an entertainment, news or media company
  • Experience in overseeing traditional and/or new media content and programming development with demonstrated expertise in building, maintaining and growing targeted niche markets
  • Highly effective team leader with the ability to guide a team of content producers and collaborating with other News 12 channels
  • Hands on experience and expertise in all phases of television production
  • Exceptional writing and story development skills with the ability to coach and mentor staff

About Your Work Day

Workdays during the season will vary based on the programming schedule and recording needs. The Associate Media Producer can expect to work 5-6 days a week up to 40 hours. The span of day will vary and the position will be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and possibly some overtime to ensure professional quality capture of all assignments.   • Provide a wide range of audio-visual recorded and live production support to CHQ Assembly
  • Create and cultivate branded content for online viewing from on-grounds live events and curated content
  • Maintain high quality and adherence to all standards of brand imprinting on produced content

About Your Schedule

Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August.  Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability.  Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.

While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:  

This an hourly position of 40 hours per week. The season’s schedule is subject to change dependent on production demands but typically can expect to work 5-6 days per week. 

 About Your Compensation

Compensation for this position starts at $15.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $20.00/Hour.

About Living on the Grounds

Chautauqua Institution may provide limited housing options on our grounds or assist you with locating nearby housing arrangements for select opportunities based on business needs.  Housing is not an option for many positions and may be of a cost to you.  If the section below is incomplete, candidates should assume that this is no housing associated with this position. 

Shared accommodations may be negotiated as part of the compensation package of employment. Accommodations would be a private bedroom, shared bathroom, shared kitchen and shared living area. A vehicle may required as housing options are mostly off-grounds and typically within a 5 to 10 mile radius of the grounds.
