A new documentary is seeking real Chicago-area families to share their experience as their child prepares to receive their first smartphone. This heartfelt and thought-provoking film will chronicle five diverse families through the anticipation, decision-making process, and emotional impact of gifting a phone to a child aged 7 to 14. Families selected will be featured before, during, and after their child receives their first phone (provided by production).

This is a unique opportunity to authentically represent your family’s views—whether cautious or tech-forward—on kids and screen time, digital access, and the evolving role of technology in parenting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-camera filming in your home or local area

  • Share personal stories, family dynamics, and perspectives on children and smartphone usage

  • Allow filming of the moment your child receives their first phone and subsequent follow-up

  • Provide insight into your parenting approach and thoughts on digital technology

Requirements

  • Must be located in the Chicagoland area

  • Families with at least one child between ages 7–14 who is expected to receive their first phone within the year
