Job Description

An independent short film titled Free Will (thriller/drama, 10–12 minutes) is casting for a supporting lead role. The film follows two friends whose quiet poker night spirals into a deadly test of free will when a mysterious stranger with hidden motives arrives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray the role of Sam, a restless and volatile character with a mix of bravado and vulnerability.

  • Deliver a wide emotional range including intimidation, panic, and raw emotional collapse.

  • Perform staged physical actions (shoves, grabs) and handle a firearm prop safely under the supervision of a safety coordinator (no live weapons).

  • Participate in night interior and dusk exterior shoots.

  • Collaborate with the director and cast to bring authenticity to the story.

Role Needed

  • Sam (Supporting Lead)

    • Male, 20s, Caucasian

    • Type: Lean, wiry, or tense energy; looks as though he’s been fighting uphill.

    • Essence: Restless, volatile, desperate—shifting from bravado to broken in a breath.

Requirements

  • Must convincingly play high emotional intensity.

  • Comfortable with staged physical action.

  • Local hires preferred (Austin, TX).

  • Submit headshot(s), résumé, reel or dramatic monologue (if available), and availability.

Compensation Details

  • $75/day (non-union)

  • Meals provided

  • Travel/lodging not covered
