The Job

The Artist Development Associate Manager drives implementation and administration of Music Forward’s emerging artists programming, guiding aspiring artists to discover Music Forward and navigate programs and performance opportunities which range from open mics, coaching sessions, and Spotlight performances to unique partnership projects, brand engagement experiences, and paid performances.

The Associate Manager drives program timelines and logistics for facilitators, sessions, and experts, and communication processes for participants and partners. The Associate Manager also oversees program related contact databases and collateral.

The Associate Manager reports to the Artist Development Manager and is based in Los Angeles, California.

The details:

  • Participate in the planning, delivery, and outcomes of programs by providing input into program planning strategies, ensuring clear communication between stakeholders, tracking timelines and deliverables, and supporting artists, industry guests, and speaker engagement needs. Coordinate with manager and facilitators to ensure the overall successful delivery of programming in live and virtual settings.
  • Create and refine standard operating procedures, incorporating feedback and key learnings to improve efficiency and effectiveness of programs.
  • Lead participant communications for ongoing and one-off artist development program activations, especially around registration, scheduling, logistics, and follow-up. This includes building forms, tracking registrations and applications for performance opportunities and mentorships, sending communications to partners in education and industry, and ensuring survey collection. Monitor communication response and incorporate best practices into communication language and distribution.
  • Manage program production for in-person and virtual events. Duties include, but are not limited to identifying and booking venue, ordering catering, providing timely direction for program material creation and shipments, confirming AV and production needs, providing parking and directions, welcoming participants, volunteers, and partners, presenting safety rules and procedures, and providing virtual production support (i.e.-distributing links, monitoring chat, bringing on speakers, managing breakout rooms).
  • Provide leadership for the collection and compilation of program data for analysis and reports. Update organization files, ensuring program historical assets are accessible and organized.
  • Coordinate artist and alumni engagement opportunities. Ensure systems and processes are followed for Music Forward’s alumni that identify levels of proficiency and associated next step opportunities including, but not limited to; mentorship and gig opportunities
  • Participate in required staff calls and meetings and additional duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • 2-4 years of project or program management experience with a proven capacity to work individually and cooperatively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail under prescribed deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Has a growth mindset, open to training, feedback, as well as a self-driven learner
  • High level of comfort working across a diverse staff and constituent base, and conscientious of reaching out with an inclusive voice
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with a CRM database, Salesforce preferred
  • A personal cell phone and car or regular access to reliable transportation, and a willingness to travel in the community for site visits and events. Mileage is reimbursed per federal rates for work related travel (not regular commuting). A valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance required for business driving.
  • Flexibility to work and travel for some early morning, evenings and/or weekends for programs and special events on occasion

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a salary of $55k-$60k, depending on experience. Excellent benefits include 100% paid medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances. The Job

The Charitable Partnerships Manager (CPM) implements the development strategy, focusing on individual and major giving, and stewardship of foundation and government funders. The Manager plays a central role in steering moves management efforts across organizational events and communications, and keeps the team informed of fundraising campaigns and strategies. The Manager shapes internal processes and procedures that are rooted in fundraising best practices and that promote organizational scalability in accordance with Music Forward’s three-year strategic framework (FY23 – FY25).

The Manager thrives in engaging and mobilizing Music Forward’s stakeholders to steward major contributors to Music Forward’s mission. The Manager serves in a front-facing capacity and represents the organization to key constituent groups including donors, both individual and corporate, and industry partners and professionals. employees.

This position is based in Los Angeles and reports to the Executive Director. The Manager oversees related contractors and interns.

Details

• Drives implementation of annual development plan to meet plan benchmarks. Oversees campaign development and execution, focusing on individual and major giving. Makes recommendations for changes, improvements, and increased outcomes, and prepares reports for Executive Team and Board of Directors.

• Implements individual giving strategy to fulfill and grow $250k annual target. Designs and implements a comprehensive donor cultivation and stewardship plan inclusive of direct mail appeals, digital campaigns, engagement opportunities, and other outreach and communication strategies; engages stakeholders and identifies, cultivates, and solicits donors; drives expansion of the membership program, the Music Forward Alliance; works with the marketing team to increase annual revenues sourced through digital and in-person activations including auctions. Integrates individual giving strategy across events and programming.

• Manages contributor communications, mailings and other outreach. Develop, recommend, draft and execute contributor communications. Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure communications align with the Music Forward brand and coordinate with other departments and external vendors to ensure timely deployment within budget. Distribute and maintain acknowledgement letters and other recognition communications and materials.

• Steward foundation relationships and oversee grant submissions and reporting. Work with grant contractor to identify and submit applications to meet plan goals.

• Track moves management across revenue channels: Refine tracking processes and manage CRM system to keep records accurate and stakeholders informed. Refine reporting to inform strategies and communications.

• Serve as an active member of our team: Participate in and lead brainstorming, research, and creative ideation; join required staff calls and meetings; support additional duties as assigned or requested.

What you bring

• 5+ years in fundraising or related fields with experience in leadership or management roles.

• High level of comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a demonstrated ability to meet priorities.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire a variety of audiences and articulate the importance of Music Forward’s work in a compelling manner. Persuasive writing skills, and presentation skills.

• Tenacious commitment to tracking and achieving goals.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

• Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.

• Ability to engage with diverse groups of people, internally and externally.

• Familiarity with fundraising and/or CRM database, Salesforce donor database management experience preferred.

• Proficient/advanced use of MS Excel and MS Office Suite.

• Willingness to travel and/or work alternative schedules including nights/weekends. Possess a car or has regular access to reliable transportation. The Job

The HR Manager is a generalist who supports staff and organization development and drives implementation of Music Forward’s HR operations including recruitment and onboarding, professional development, and evaluations for staff and the internal internship program. The Manager will develop internal communications and trainings that foster a culture rooted in Music Forward’s values of music, diversity, innovation, connection, and excellence. Great candidates are excellent listeners and team builders who bring people together. The Manager reports to the Director of Operations. The position is based in Los Angeles with a hybrid work arrangement.

The details:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job candidates in collaboration with hiring managers. Identifies and posts positions in places that ensures a diverse candidate pool. Manages applicant communications and conducts background and reference checks.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs for professional and personal milestones. Solicits and incorporates feedback to develop programs, as well as manages implementation timelines and budgets.
  • Drives professional development planning and operations. Works collaboratively with supervisors, gathers input from staff, and incorporates Music Forward’s strategic plan to determine training needs and career pathway opportunities. Identifies and promotes best practices to foster a coaching and mentorship culture incorporating shared tools and language. Increases internal communications and engagement in training opportunities. Implements ongoing professional evaluations, goal, and training tracking in new system.
  • Manages internship program from recruitment through offboarding to ensure spring, summer, and fall placements across the organization. Develops supervisor training.
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, and local employment and operational laws and best practices by staying on top of trends, liaising with legal and HR advisors and payroll company, and driving review of policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and new technologies related to human resources and talent management.
  • Be a leader and active member of the team. Take initiative and collaborate across staff in support of Music Forward programming, marketing, and operations. Research, brainstorm, recommend, and participate in required staff calls and meetings. Additional duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • 5 years in human resources or related fields with experience in leadership roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in leading professional development programs and working with talent management systems
  • DISC or similar assessment tool experience in org-wide implementation preferred
  • Passion for music and live entertainment required
  • High level of comfort working across a diverse staff and constituent base, and conscientious of reaching out with an inclusive voice
  • Sound judgment and a commitment to high professional ethical standards
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends to represent Music Forward at events and to support programs and special events as needed. Possess a car or has regular access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
