Thesis Short Film Casting – Paid Lead & Supporting Roles (SAG Micro-Budget)

Job Description
A SAG-AFTRA micro-budget thesis short film is casting actors and musician-performers for a character-driven story about a band facing a major breakup just weeks before a big move. This short film casting call is open to both union and non-union talent, with select paid roles. Filming is scheduled to shoot in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform as a lead or supporting character in a narrative short film

• Take direction for blocking, timing, and emotional beats in scripted scenes

• For musician roles: perform convincingly as a band member (instrument experience is a plus)

• For singing roles: deliver vocals on camera as required for the character

Requirements

• SAG micro-budget compliant project (union and non-union actors welcome)

• Must be available to work in Bergen County, NJ (local hire strongly preferred)

• Roles currently sought include:

  • Chris Li (Lead, 19, Male, Chinese-American) — must be able to sing

  • Ash Chadarah (Lead, 21, Male, South Asian) — bassist; bass experience preferred

  • Stella (Supporting, 19, Female, Black) — must be able to sing; bass experience preferred

  • Martinez (Supporting, 20, Male, Hispanic/Latino) — drummer; drum experience preferred

  • Hasan (Supporting, 21, Male, Middle Eastern) — guitarist/poet; guitar experience preferred

  • Chris’ Mother (Supporting, 50s, Female, Chinese-American)

  • Chris’ Father (Supporting, 50s, Male, Chinese-American)

  • Jeremy Li (Supporting, 16–18, Male, Chinese-American)

Compensation

• Paid roles available (rates disclosed upon selection/booking)
