Job Description
An independent short film titled “The Death of America” is casting three performers for a character-driven story filming in Sacramento, California. The film follows America, a funny and fiercely hopeful homeless woman who is close to securing housing when budget cuts cause her application to be denied. Sent back to an encampment, she experiences a devastating relapse that threatens the fresh start she had been working toward.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform a lead or supporting role in the short film.
- Deliver an emotionally grounded performance suited to the film’s dramatic subject matter.
- Collaborate with the director and fellow cast members during production.
- Follow creative direction and arrive prepared for filming.
Requirements
- America – Feminine Lead, 20+: Quirky, determined, and hopeful, with a strong belief in achieving the American Dream.
- Katie – Supporting Role, 30+: Dry, sarcastic, slightly tough around the edges, and possessing a raspy voice.
- Danny/Dani – Supporting Role, 20+: A social worker doing their best to support and work with America.
- Each shoot day is expected to last approximately six hours.
- Non-union production.
Compensation
- Unpaid.
- Food will be provided on shoot days.
