Job Description
Gallery Players is seeking talented actors for a staged reading of Tiger Style! by Mike Lew, a sharp and comedic play about two siblings navigating identity, family expectations, and cultural heritage. This non-union production is part of the Have You Heard? reading series, showcasing thought-provoking and engaging theatrical works. Actors selected will participate in a live staged reading in Brooklyn, New York.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform in a staged reading of Tiger Style! with strong comedic timing
• Participate in rehearsals, table reads, and technical run-throughs
• Collaborate with the director and cast to bring characters to life
• Deliver dynamic and engaging performances for a live audience
• Be prepared to portray multiple roles if required

Requirements

• Prior acting experience in theater, staged readings, or similar productions preferred
• Strong comedic performance skills and stage presence
• Ability to memorize or effectively read scripts with expression and clarity
• Must be available for rehearsals and performances in Brooklyn, New York
• For Asian roles: Native English-speaking actors of Chinese ancestry preferred; East Asian/AAPI actors also considered
• Ability to portray multiple characters (for select roles)

Albert

• Asian, late 20s to 30s
• An underachieving IT worker who uses humor and deflection to cope with personal frustrations
• Strong physicality and comedic delivery preferred

Tzi Chuan / Melvin / Dad / General Tso

• Asian, 40s to 60s
• Plays multiple archetypal characters with both comedic and serious tones

Therapist / Mom / Cousin Chen / Matchmaker

• Asian, 40s to 60s
• Multi-role performance requiring versatility and emotional range

Russ the Bus / Reggie / Customs Guy

• White, 30s
• A bold, comedic role portraying multiple exaggerated personalities

Compensation
