A paid non-union short film, In the Water, is casting multiple speaking roles for an intimate family drama filming over two days in Los Angeles this fall. Casting directors are seeking talented actors for a range of emotionally layered characters spanning children, adults, and seniors. Several roles require performers who are comfortable filming in or around water. This is an excellent opportunity for actors looking to work on a character-driven independent film.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform a principal role in an independent short film.
- Collaborate with the director and cast during rehearsals and filming.
- Deliver emotionally authentic performances.
- Follow creative direction throughout production.
- Participate in water-based scenes if required by the role.

- Available for filming over two days this fall.
- Seeking the following roles:
- Jessica: Female, White, ages 40–45. A restrained, emotionally complex mother. Must be comfortable filming underwater.
- Danny: Male, White, ages 40–45. A dependable father balancing charm with quiet control.
- Margot: White girl, ages 7–11. Bright, playful, emotionally expressive. Must be comfortable filming underwater.
- Kyra: Female, all ethnicities, ages 30–40. Warm, socially intuitive, and naturally charismatic.
- Brendon: Male, all ethnicities, ages 30–40. Easygoing, humorous, and personable.
- Eleanor: White female, ages 60–70. Grandmother role. Must be comfortable swimming and filming underwater.
Compensation
- Jessica: $175 per filming day.
- Danny: $125 per filming day.
- Margot: $125 per filming day.
- Kyra: $100 per filming day.
- Brendon: $100 per filming day.
