Job Description
Casting is now open for GASP, a short series centered on Aya, a queer Muslim photographer navigating cultural expectations with the help of her four mischievous friends. This heartfelt and dynamic project will film for one day in New York City and offers a unique opportunity for actors to join a bold and inclusive narrative. While this is an unpaid role, meals, footage, and IMDb credit will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in filming for the short series on the scheduled date

• Portray the character with authenticity and emotional depth

• Collaborate with the director and cast for a smooth shoot

• Deliver minimal lines while maintaining strong on-screen presence

Requirements

• Role: Derek – Black male, ages 25–40

• Derek is Aya’s on-and-off boyfriend; must capture the complexity of the relationship

• Must be available for filming on August 23rd, 2025, from 10 AM to 3 PM in New York City (Brooklyn)

• Ability to work well in a collaborative, fast-paced filming environment

Filming will take place June 14–15 in Brooklyn.

Character Description
Perverted Subway Man (Any race): A disturbing presence who becomes involved in an uncomfortable public confrontation on a New York subway. This character is written to highlight social tension and boundary-crossing behavior.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver a compelling, uncomfortable performance within a brief scene

• Participate in rehearsals as needed and be fully available for filming dates

• Work safely and respectfully in a public simulation scene

• Take direction closely for emotional pacing and delivery

Requirements

• Must be able to play ages 25–40

• Open to all racial backgrounds

• Must be comfortable portraying disturbing or antagonistic behavior on-screen

• Based in or able to travel to Brooklyn, NYC

• Acting reel or experience in emotionally intense scenes preferred

• Portray a believably agitated character with strong emotional delivery

• Participate in rehearsals and a short filming session in NYC

• Contribute to an important dramatic beat in the series

• Follow direction and timing precisely for confrontational scene

• Must be able to play ages 40–70

• Open to both male and female actors

• Must be White

• Local to or able to work in Brooklyn, NY

• Previous acting experience in dramatic or intense scenes preferred
