Job Description

A new feature film, Beneath the Rust, is now casting union and non-union actors for multiple paid roles. Produced under the SAG-AFTRA Low Budget Theatrical Agreement (LBA), the coming-of-age drama will film in East Liverpool, Ohio this September. The production is seeking talented performers for lead, supporting, and day player roles that explore themes of friendship, recovery, loyalty, and hope in a Rust Belt community. Select lead roles are open nationwide, while several supporting and day player roles require East Liverpool local hires.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform scripted dramatic scenes under the direction of the filmmaking team.
• Collaborate with cast and crew throughout rehearsals and production.
• Bring emotionally grounded, authentic performances to character-driven roles.
• Attend scheduled filming dates and remain available throughout production.

Requirements

Lead Roles

• Butterfly: Male, 21–25, White or Mixed Ethnicity. A fearless yet vulnerable young man struggling with addiction, identity, and the hope of redemption.
• Fat Andy: Male, 18–21, White or Mixed Ethnicity. A fast-talking, energetic friend whose reckless charm masks deeper emotional struggles.

Supporting Roles

• Montana, Jessie & Brianna: Females, 18–23, White or Mixed Ethnicity. Members of a close-knit friend group with strong personalities and rebellious energy. East Liverpool, Ohio local hires only.

Day Player Roles

• Construction Manager Frank: Male, 55–65, White. Rugged local construction manager with a raw Rust Belt appearance. Local hire only.
• Foreclosure Server Sam: Male, 50–65, White. Weathered, emotionally worn character delivering foreclosure notices. Local hire only.
• Court House Clerk Jennifer: Female, 50–70, White. Compassionate courthouse employee facing difficult moral choices. Local hire only.
• State Rep Shannon: Female, 40–70, White. Experienced public official providing emotional support during difficult times. Local hire only.

Compensation

• SAG-AFTRA Low Budget Theatrical Agreement (LBA).
• All roles paid LBA Scale plus P&H and 10%.
• Travel and housing provided for qualifying non-local lead actors.
