Job Description
A psychological horror proof-of-concept film is casting London-based actors for Castrato, a period project set within a 1970s boys’ choir conservatoire. The story explores themes of obsession, faith, and the preservation of beauty through a haunting narrative centered around a gifted choirboy whose extraordinary voice becomes the focus of dangerous fascination.
Production is seeking actors for several principal roles across multiple age ranges. This is an opportunity to work on an independent horror project with rich dramatic material and character-driven storytelling.
Job Responsibilities
- Portray a principal character in a psychological horror short film.
- Attend rehearsals and filming as scheduled.
- Collaborate with the director and production team to bring characters to life.
- Deliver emotionally authentic and engaging performances.
- Maintain professionalism throughout production.
Requirements
Peter
- Male, ages 8–11.
- Quiet, sensitive, innocent, and deeply musical.
- Strong acting ability preferred.
Albert
- Male, ages 10–14.
- Ability to portray a young character within a choir conservatoire setting.
- Comfortable performing dramatic scenes.
Michel-Cesar
- Male, ages 40–60.
- Strong dramatic acting skills.
- Ability to portray a disciplined and authoritative choir director.
Nurse Valentina
- Female, ages 35–60.
- Strong character acting ability.
- Comfortable performing in a psychological horror narrative.
General Requirements
- Must be based in or able to work in London.
- Reliable and available for the production schedule.
- Previous acting experience is beneficial but not required.
