Job Description
An Off-Broadway premiere production of “From the Other Side of Darkness (When There’s No Place Like Home)” is seeking performers for a genre-defying, Afrofuturist cosmic odyssey set in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. This bold musical drama follows a trio of friends trapped inside a solar cyclone as they face a life-altering choice—escape the sun or embrace its power. The piece explores masculinity, mental health, race, love, and legacy, featuring gospel-choir harmonies, interpretive dance, and an original soundtrack. Rehearsals take place in NYC, with performances held in Downtown Manhattan.
Job Responsibilities

Rehearse and perform as part of an Off-Broadway theatrical production.

Deliver scripted scenes and musical/dramatic material with emotional depth and clarity.

Participate in choreography and movement work, including interpretive dance elements.

Collaborate with the director and creative team to bring the story, tone, and themes to life.

Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and preparedness throughout rehearsal and performance periods.
Requirements

Must be able to rehearse and perform in New York City.

Strong acting skills; musical theater experience is a plus.

Comfortable with movement-based staging and interpretive dance.

Ability to work in an ensemble environment and take direction efficiently.

Availability for rehearsals beginning as soon as possible in NYC.
