Job Description

A theatrical production of “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Musical” is accepting audition video submissions from Washington, D.C.-based actors for upcoming roles in the show. The production is based on the music performed and recorded by TLC, and is seeking strong performers who can deliver dynamic storytelling through singing, acting, and (for select tracks) dance. Applicants must have housing within 50 miles of the theater and their own transportation to and from the venue.

Job Responsibilities

• Submit a video audition following the required taping instructions (separate takes, clear slate details, and a shareable link).

• Prepare and perform audition materials in the style of the show (song selection and role-specific materials).

• For certain roles, learn and record the required dance combination as part of the submission.

• Demonstrate professional vocal performance with live singing (not altered/produced).

• If selected, participate in rehearsals and performances as scheduled by the production.

Requirements

• Location Requirement: Must be based in Washington, D.C. area and have housing within 50 miles of the theater.

• Must have reliable transportation to and from the theater.

• Strong on-camera audition skills and ability to follow detailed self-tape instructions.

• Singing must be live and performed with the provided accompaniment tracks.

• Must submit a viewable/downloadable link with access enabled for anyone with the link.

• Actors’ Equity membership not required to submit.

• Dr. Nzinga/Ensemble – Femme presenting, Black, 40s–60s, Guyanese spiritual healer; rich/soulful alto; Lisa’s spiritual guide. (Song required)

• Blake/Rain/Ensemble – Masculine presenting, Black, 20s–30s, pop/R&B tenor; VJ/critic. (Song + dance combo required)

• Masc-Presenting Ensemble – Masculine presenting, Black, 20s–30s; very strong dancers/singers/actors to play various roles. (Song + dance combo required)
