Job Description

An independent narrative short film production is seeking an experienced Director of Photography (DP) for a three-day shoot in Dallas, Texas. The project is looking for a cinematographer with proven experience filming African American talent in both indoor and outdoor environments and the ability to create visually compelling storytelling for a narrative film.

Candidates with film festival experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as Director of Photography for an independent narrative short film.
  • Collaborate with the director to establish the visual style and look of the project.
  • Plan and execute lighting setups for interior and exterior scenes.
  • Operate or oversee camera operations during production.
  • Ensure high-quality cinematic imagery throughout the shoot.
  • Work closely with production staff to maintain filming schedules and creative goals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Director of Photography on narrative film projects.
  • Demonstrated experience filming African American subjects in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Strong understanding of cinematography, lighting, and camera techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently during a three-day production schedule.
  • Film festival experience is a plus.
  • Professional portfolio or reel preferred.
