Jason Momoa Recalls His Nerve-Wracking ‘Justice League’ Audition

Date:

Jason Momoa has revealed he landed the role after Aquaman executive producer Zack Snyder invited the star to read for the iconic role of Batman, a request Jason knew, going in, was booby trapped.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald this week, Jason said after receiving the invitation from Zack, who directed Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, he was shocked.

‘I’m like, what the f**k, I’m not Batman and they said: “listen, it’s just a scene, you go in, you read it,”’ he explained.

‘So I went in and played the rudest, crudest version of what they made for me, because i knew it was a booby trap.’

The news outlet reported that, despite tanking the “joke” audition, Zack was impressed enough with Jason’s performance that he cast him in both Justice League and Aquaman.

Revealing that it was playing the part differently that attracted the director to his acting skills, Jason added that he had always been terrible at auditions.

‘Auditions are pretty gnarly man. I don’t even consider them the same sport,’ he said.

‘Some actors are amazing at auditioning. There’s others like me that are just absolutely horrible for them.

Luckily for Jason, Zack noticed something special in the Game of Thrones star, giving him what could be the role that makes him a superstar.

While playing the superhero was not meant to be for Jason, at least star alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman in Justice League which hit theaters this week.
