Watch Daisy Ridley‘s Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie audition.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the biggest movies of this generation. Directed, produced, and co-written by J.J. Abrams, the movie launches a new exploration of the Star Wars universe. Prior to the release of the movie, Star Wars held many world-wide open casting calls for the lead roles. The roles would later go to Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.
But, what about Daisy Ridley made her stand out? Born in 1992, Daisy Jazz Isobel Ridley is an English actress, who appeared in only minor TV shows and short films before being cast in the lead role of Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Since then she has appeared in several feature films including the Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Murder on the Orient Express, a 2017 adaptation of the Agatha Christie detective novel.
Recently, Star Wars released Daisy Ridley’s audition tape when she was an unknown actress. Surprisingly, Ridley was asked to perform one of the movie’s most intense scenes, the torture scene with Kylo Ren, during the audition. What impressed the producers, casting directors, and executives, was the emotional weight Ridley was able to get out of the scene.
You can check out a clip of her audition below.
