Zoe Saldana reveals the roles that launched her career were not a proud moment for the actress due to sexism and sexual harassment.
Hollywood’s darkest secrets are being exposed left and right, and it seems Zoe Saldana has had multiple sexist encounters with several inappropriate producers.
In an interview with Philly.com last week, Saldana-who’s currently promoting her role in the movie ‘Infinitely Polar Bear’-revealed the time a producer gave a sexist compliment about the way she looks:
“A producer once told me he hired me for the way I held a gun while wearing panties, not for my opinions. I wish I’d recorded it, so I could play it for every girl in elementary school and tell them never to let anybody treat them that way.”
Zoe Saldana also pointed out how unfair it is for pregnant women in the film industry.
“…It will never be the right time for anybody in your life that you get pregnant,” Saldana explained, adding that in 2014, “the productions I was slated to work on sort of had a panic. I heard through the grapevine there was even a conversation of me being written off of one of the projects.”
On top of acting classes, head shots, and auditions, actresses have to battle sexist producers, casting directors and production companies.
