NBCUniversal’s upcoming streaming service, Peacock, is rebooting “Saved By The Bell”.
The “Saved By The Bell” reboot will star Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkeley. “Saved By the Bell” reboot comes from Universal Television and will be written and executive produced by Tracey Wigfield. Peter Engel and Franco Bario will executive produce. Engel was the executive producer on “Saved By the Bell” as well as the spinoffs.
Here is the reboot’s plot:
When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state — including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.
According to The Wrap, NBC Universal is “Still working out the deals,” to have the original cast return and reprise their original roles.
Mario Lopez played a jock, A.C. Slater. Berkley played overachiever Jessie Spano. The two characters dated throughout much of the show, which followed six close-knit group of friends while they attend Bayside High School.
Other details for the new show have not been released.
