Thousands sign petition to fire Jesse Williams from Grey’s Anatomy.
Man starts petition to fire Jesse Williams from Grey’s Anatomy following his Black Lives Matter BET Awards speech. Apparently, Jesse Williams’ moving BET Awards speech has a number of people so upset that they started a Change.org petitionto get the actor fired from his acting job on Grey’s Anatomy.
The petition, which was created by someone named Eric Williams and signed by only 370 people, claims that Williams’ speech was “racist” and he should be punished for his “hate speech.”
“Jesse Williams spewed a racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards. If this was a white person making the same speech about an African American, they would have been fired and globally chastised, as they should be, but there has been no consequences to Williams’ actions. There’s been no companies making a stand against his racist remarks and no swift action condemning his negative attitude. Why was Burke’s character fired from Grey’s Anatomy after his inappropriate homophobic slur, but nothing for Jesse Williams? Why the one-way street? Why the support for a hater? Why the hypocrisy? #AllLivesMatter All humans bleed the same color. #EqualConsequences4RacistBehavior”
Jesse Williams best known for his role as Dr. Jackson Avery on the ABC Television series Grey’s Anatomy. He also appears in the hit 2013 film Lee Daniels’ The Butler as real life civil rights leader Rev. James Lawson. In addition, his acting roles include Holden in The Cabin in the Woods (2012), Officer Eddie Quinlan in Brooklyn’s Finest (2009) and as Leo, Lena’s boyfriend, in the film sequel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008).
