Marvel Studios has unofficially made Pinewood Atlanta Studios their second home, and now the movie studio is reportedly planning on shooting a new TV series for ABC’s Freeform in Atlanta.
According to reports, Marvel’s new TV series Warriors will film in Atlanta, Georgia. While Marvel Television has not officially commented on the filming location of New Warriors Yet, a tweet from Atlanta Filming implies that the series will be the latest project from Disney’s Marvel Studios to be filmed in the Georgia capital.
Atlanta has become a hotspot for Marvel Studios lately. Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, and Spider-Man: Homecoming all filmed scenes in the ATL. If this report is true, it will be the first significant update on the show’s status since the full team roster was revealed several months ago. Freeform executive vice president Karey Burke has gone on the record to state that Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) and Shannon Purser (Stranger Things) are both being considered for the role of Squirrel Girl.
Although a release date has not yet been set, New Warriors is expected to air sometime in 2018 on Freeform alongside Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, which has also been ordered straight to series.
The New Warriors is a Marvel Comics superhero team, traditionally consisting of teenage and young adult heroes. They often are seen to serve as a junior counterpart to The Avengers in much the same way that the New Mutants/X-Force did with the X-Men.
