The Vampire Diaries will be filming their last season in Atlanta, Georgia after filming for nearly a decade.
The vampire drama revealed the news earlier this week during San Diego’s Comic-Con, according to reports. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to wrap the series was not surprising as the show suffered major ratings drop after Nina Dobrev took a break from the series. In addition, stars of the show, Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham, revealed in the past that the show was coming to an ended.
“The Vampire Diaries has meant so much to so many fans around the world, and has meant so much to all of us at The CW,” network president Mark Pedowitz said in a press release.
“I am a huge fan of the show myself, and I’ve seen every episode. So I am very happy that we can give Julie and Kevin the chance to finish their story the way they have envisioned, and to give viewers a fantastic conclusion to eight spectacular seasons.”
