Tracy Morgan Undergoing Surgery after Tragic Car Accident

UPDATE: ’30 Rock’ Star Tracy Morgan More Responsive After Crash but To Undergo Surgery Today

Tracy Morgan remains in critical condition but, is “more responsive” today, according to Tracy Morgan’s reps. Tracy Morgan suffered a broken femur, nose and several broken ribs in teh crash. He is expected to undergo surgery on his leg and remain in the hospital for several weeks. “His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” the statement reads.

Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.

The truck driver, Kevin Roper of Jonesboro, Georgia has been charged with death by auto for setting off the chain reaction crash that has put 30 Rock alumni into critical condition, and has killed James McNair.

UPDATE: Authorities are saying that comedian and actor Tracy Morgan is in critical condition after his limo bus was involved in a six car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday night.

CNN reports that one person was killed and four others are in critical condition.

The accident reportedly involved two tractor-trailers, an SUV, and two cars, in addition to the limo bus that Tracy Morgan was riding in. There are four people injured including Tracy Morgan at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.

The comedian recently performed at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, Delaware.

Tracy Morgan is known for his work on Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock and other hit movies. In 1996 he joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” for seven years until he left to star in “The Tracy Morgan Show” in 2003.” In 2006, Morgan joined the hit show “30 Rock” which was created by SNL star, Tina Fey.
