Tom Hiddleston is expected to star on the King Kong prequel, Skull Island.
The latest news is stating that Tom Hiddleston, also known as Loki from Thor, is set to star in an origin story for King Kong, one of the biggest movie monsters of all time.
According to USA Today, Tom Hiddleston will take a leading role in Skull Island with Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing, Legendary films announced on Tuesday. The movie will hit theaters on November 4, 2016.
‘Skull Island’ will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Previously, Legendary Films was planning on getting ‘Attack the Block’s director Joe Cornish, but Cornish ended up declining to do the movie.
Vogt-Roberts is known for directing Funny or Die Presents and last year’s Kings of Summers, an indie comedy starring Nick Offerman, so you have to wonder if this movie will partly be funny.
Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) will direct a script written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla) that explores the mysterious island that was the home of Kong and other terrifying prehistoric creatures. “Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions,” said the company, in a statement. It may be pretty entertaining to see Hiddleston fighting dinosaurs on the back of King Kong.
