“The Last of Us” Season 2 to be Filmed in Vancouver

Date:

Vancouver has been chosen as the filming location for season 2 of HBO’s “The Last of Us,” according to an official announcement.

According to reports, filming for season two of The Last of Us will take place in the beautiful city of Vancouver.

After only a few episodes of airing, the massive success of HBO’s first season based on the wildly successful PlayStation video game series saw its second season announced.

Vancouver became the talk of the town as rumors began to circulate that it was chosen for shooting scenes in Season 2 of The Last of Us Part II, a critically acclaimed sequel to its predecessor. Vancouver’s stunning streetscape and breathtaking scenery have made it a popular backdrop for films and television shows. The city has served as Seattle on numerous occasions – such as in many of the events featured during that game.

Daily Hive was alerted of this production’s details by a source close to the situation, who requested anonymity. Moreover, Deadline also confirmed the news.

The financial ramifications of filming the second season of The Last of Us in Vancouver are far-reaching and immeasurable, while Season One gave Alberta much sought-after publicity.

Reports indicate that it can cost up to US$15 million per episode of season one.

The show was even lauded in the 2023 budget statement, specifically for its contribution to tourism.

“Building on the tourism-related success of HBO’s The Last of Us, Budget 2023 also provides an increase of $100 million over the next three years for the Film and Television Tax Credit to attract more productions to the province that will create jobs, diversify the economy and showcase Alberta as a world-class travel destination.”

Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the masterminds behind this series, promised Variety that viewers could anticipate even more chaos in season two. Druckmann, one of the writers and creative directors for the initial game is also returning to work on this second installment. Plus, Mazin has verified that Bella Ramsey will be reprising her role as Ellie!

The British Columbia film and TV industry has peaked this year, with a record-breaking total of $4.8 billion in 2021 – making Hollywood North an incomparable success story!

The Mayor of Vancouver, Ken Sim, weighed in on the matter.

Where will the gripping story of The Last of Us take us in its second season

The Last of Us Part II picks up five years from where the first game left off, providing a powerful follow-up to its predecessor.

Part II introduces us to newfound characters, creatures, and heart-wrenching emotions without ruining the game experience for those who have yet to play.

Embark on an adventure to Seattle, where you explore actual locations that the infection has ravaged, but some places are at different stages of recovery and flourishing. Players of the second game ought to be prepared for some surprises, following what we saw in the first season.

In 2018, Culture Trip highlighted five scenes where Vancouver stands in for Seattle on the silver screen.

Amongst a sea of films, two titles shine: Fifty Shades of Grey and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The Twilight franchise significantly transformed Vancouver into the Pacific Northwest of America’s southernmost region.
