‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ is heading to television.
After being developed and adapted for several movies over the past few years, Patricia Highsmith’s series of books focusing on con artist Tom Ripley is being developed and transitioned into a TV series.
This year is the 60th anniversary of the publishing of the first novel ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’, which was later adapted into the Matt Damon’s 1999 movie, ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’. Before selling the TV show to TV networks, producers are looking for a creative team and a big star to lead in the series. This is the kind of TV show that could work basically anywhere from Netflix to AMC to even NBC, as long as the right people are involved in the making of the show.
The creative brains behind the ‘Talented Mr. Ripley’ TV show remake include the executive producer of ‘Game of Thrones‘.
Tom Ripley’s crazy life all got started in the first novel when he is tasked with retrieving a wealthy shipbuilder’s also wealthy son to return home from Italy to work with the family. He ultimately falls in love with the upper class lifestyle which takes him to various other criminal endeavors, including dealing with art forgers and the Mafia.
