‘Selma’ Director Ava Duvernay, is getting started on her next feature film and turning her attention to Hurricane Katrina.
The Selma director is developing a feature film centering around a complex murder mystery and love story set against the backdrop of the hurricane of 2005.
David Oyelowo, is currently in negotiations to produce and star in the upcoming feature film and will mark the third collaboration for DuVernay and Oyelowo.
Ava DuVernay will write, produce and direct the Hurricane Katrina movie. Since working on the Academy Award nominated movie, Selma, has launched her career. Selma, which cost only $20 million to make has earned $40 million at the box office to date.
No details surrounding the movie’s filming location have been released. But, with Louisiana film credit expect production to start in the next few months in the French Quarter.
