Selena Gomez is the next Hollywood A-lister to land a TV series on Netflix.
Gomez is will executive producer a new Netflix series called 13 Reasons Why, based on a 2007 young adult novel by Jay Asher.
The 13-episode series centers around a Hannah a high school student who commits suicide and leaves cassette tapes to a classmate.
From Variety:
On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to twelve peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving thirteen reasons explaining why she took her life.
Sounds pretty dark for a girl who starred on a Disney children’s series.
According to Deadline, Gomez will not star in the series, but will executive produce the production.
Gomez is on fire. Her second studio album, Revival was released in early October and she has worked on four upcoming feature films (In Dubious Battle, The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving, The Big Short and Neighbors 2), three of which filmed in Atlanta, Georgia.
