Selena Gomez, who appears in the upcoming Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, reveals that acting saved her life.
The 23-year-old actress became famous at a young age, starting out on the Disney Channel show Barney & Friends. Now she’s made a name for herself in Hollywood appearing in Spring Breakers and Rudderless. But on top of acting she has developed an amazing singing voice. Gomez created hit songs such as Good for You.
But, when it comes to her acting career, the actress revealed that she is glad she became famous at a young age, as it helped her shape her into the woman she is now.
“Acting gave me a new perspective and developed my personality,” she smiled to German magazine Jolie.
Selena Gomez was born and raised in Texas and admits she’s glade she left her home for Hollywood. She even goes as far to say it “scares” her to think what would have become of her if she didn’t go after her dreams.
“I definitely didn’t appreciate [my upbringing] when I was little. I was frustrated that my parents weren’t together and never saw the light at the end of the tunnel where my mom was working hard to provide a better life for me. I’m terrified of what I would have become if I’d stayed there. I’m sure I’d have two children by now,” she previously told the US edition of Glamour magazine.
Luckily for Selena her dreams did come true and she can now celebrate her success. She also added that she’s involved in charity work because she wants to help everyone who wasn’t as fortunate as her.
“It’s my duty,” she said.
