Ryan Murphy Disputes Accusations ‘AHS’ Strikers Will Be ‘Blackballed in Murphy-Land’: ‘Absolute Nonsense’

Date:

Ryan Murphy has vehemently denied allegations made by Warren Leight, the strike captain of WGA East, suggesting that “American Horror Story” crew members would be blocked in Murphy-land if they respected the picket lines during the ongoing strike in New York City.

In response to Leight’s tweet, a spokesperson for Murphy stated, “Absolute nonsense. Completely untrue.” Neither WGA East nor FX, the network airing “AHS,” has commented.

According to Leight, crew members working on “AHS” allegedly warned WGA strikers that they would face blocklisting in Murphy-land if they supported the picket lines during filming in Midtown Manhattan. The location mentioned was 52nd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, where the WGA scheduled a picket from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday.

Leight later deleted his tweet, but not before urging others to amplify the message and join the cause. A screenwriter and journalist, Elisabeth Donnelly, retweeted and captured a screenshot of his original post.

After the Hollywood writers’ strike, Ryan Murphy contributed to the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund). This nonprofit organization offers emergency financial assistance to workers in the film and television industry, regardless of their profession or union affiliation. In May, it was announced that writers had pledged over $1.7 million to the fund.

The Writers Guild of America strike is approaching its second month, beginning on May 2, after failed negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The strike, the most significant labor shortage in the guild since the 2007-2008 strike, focuses on protecting writers from AI threats, improving working conditions, and securing residuals for their work.

“American Horror Story” premiered in 2011 and has since become a flagship series for FX. The twelfth season, titled “Delicate,” was initially slated to premiere this year, but production was halted in May due to the WGA strike.
