Woman arrested for not returning a video
A woman has been jailed in South Carolina for failing to return a video of the Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda feature film, Monster-in-Law, nine years after it was due.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, officers in Pickens County, South Carolina, took Kayla Michelle Finley, 27, into custody when she came to the station to report a crime and they unintentionally found an unrelated warrant out for her arrest.
Kayla Michelle Finley was charged with petty larceny and spent the night in jaily on Thursday. She was released the following day on a $2,000 bond. It is reported that the woman said she did not receive notices from the store, either. “I’m no criminal, but Pickens County sheriffs office sure made me feel like i was,” she wrote.
Finley’s outstanding warrant showed she rented the cassette from a now out of business video store in 2005. She was sent several letters from the store warning her to return the videos, as well as a certified warrant.
