People who brag about their relationships on Facebook are pretty insecure.
In a world were entertainers, models, and actors broadcast their feelings, emotions, food, and ideas on social media, it is interesting to see how psychology factors into social media.
A new study shows that people who tend to brag a lot about their relationship on the internet, are very insecure about their relationships.
According to the research, published in the journal of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, people who constantly made their relationships visible on social media were more anxious and felt the need to tell others that they are in a relationship.
On a daily basis, when people felt more insecure about their partner’s feelings, they tended to make their relationships visible (Study 3). These studies highlight the role of relationships in how people portray themselves to others.
People are constantly feeling the need to market themselves on the Internet. But, the next time you see someone talking about how much they love their boyfriend or girlfriend remember, don’t get upset. They are seriously worried about their relationship.
