Date:

Netflix’sStranger Things 3‘ broke the platform’s streaming record.

In Netflix’s quarterly earnings report on Wednesday, the streaming platform said 64 million homes watched the third season of Georgia-filmed ‘Stranger Things’ within the first four weeks of its July 4th premiere.

The majority of the views came immediately after the show premiered. Earlier this year, Netflix reported more than 40 million households watched the play within the first four days. (It is important to highlight the fact that Netflix counts a view as a member household watching 70% of one episode of the series or 70% of a feature film.)

‘Stranger Things’ was renewed for a fourth season, with the streaming platform landing a significant deal with the show’s creators and showrunners The Duffer Brothers. Matt and Ross Duffer signed a multi-year film and series deal with the network.

Netflix also reported the limited series ‘Unbelievable’ had 32 million households within its first 28 days.

From a business perspective, Netflix came up short of subscriber growth projects when it reported its third-quarter earnings call. The stock jumped 5% in early after-hours trading after the company beat Wall Street’s expectations.

Netflix added 6.8 million new subscribers, missing the 7 million new subscribers the company expected. After losing U.S. subscribers for the first time last quarter, Netflix saw growth, adding 500,00 subscribers in the United States. Netflix currently has over 158 million subscribers worldwide.
