Netflix gives ‘Degrassi’ another season.
Earlier this week TeenNick announced Thursday that it had pulled the plug on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” after 14 seasons, and many fans mourned that this season would be the last.
But in a matter of a few days, Netflix swooped in to save the show. CNN reports that the streaming giant and Canada’s Family Channel will air 20 new episodes of “Degrassi” by early 2016. Netflix tweeted to fans to “meet the next class.”
“Next Class” will reportedly be the show’s new subtitle, and many of the current cast will continue their roles.
The series has been on the air in numerous variations for the past 35 years, making it one of the longest-running shows in Canadian TV history.
Casting directors recently posted a casting call for new lead roles and for actors to audition for a role on ‘Degrassi’.
