Margot Robbie is going to star in the upcoming stand-alone ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie.
According to reports, the Australian actress is said to be female-led set in the same universe of the hit Johnny Depp franchise. Sources report that it will be completely separate from the previously announced ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ reboot, which is developed by Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin.
Details for the movie have not been released, the project will be written by Christina Hodson. Hodson recently wrote the ‘Suicide Squad’ spinoff starring Margot Robbie in ‘Birds of Prey’.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is one of the biggest film franchises of all time. The movie series grossed over $4.5 billion across five feature films. However, the franchise was led by Johnny Depp and over the years the return on investment has decreased. In fact, the fifth movie ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ came in with the second-lowest box office of the series with $795 million worldwide. The studio is working on creating new ways to reboot the brand with new stories and talent.
