John Boyega says his ‘Star Wars Episode IX‘ script he lost was listed on eBay.
John Boyega admitted the public to being the owner of the ‘Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’ script, which was previously listed on eBay.
On Good Morning America, the actor confirmed he was responsible for the major mistake. “Alright guys, it was me. Let me tell you how this all went down,” he confessed on the talkshow. “It was actually from my apartment. I was moving apartments and I left the script under my bed. I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m gonna leave it under my bed, when I wake up in the morning, I’ll take it and then move.’ But then my boys came over and, you know, we started partying a little bit and the script just stayed there. And then a few weeks after, this cleaner comes in, finds the script, and then puts it on eBay for like, £65, so the person didn’t know the true value.”
While he jokes that his bad decision making was just an opportunity for his fans to read the movie before it hit theaters, Boyega also discussed the “scary” consequences. “I got calls from every official. Even Mickey Mouse called me like, ‘What did you do?!’”
J.J. Abrams revealed the news on the show earlier this week. The director and co-writer of the movie did not say Boyega by name, he explained a Disney employee found the script on eBay and purchased it before it could be sold to anyone else.
‘Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’ hits theaters on December 20th.
