Jared Leto Met With Psychopaths for ‘Suicide Squad’ To Get Into Character

Date:

Jared Leto revealed he met with psychopaths in order to get into character for the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.

Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto revealed his acting technique by becoming a method actor. But, in order to prepare for the movie role Leto met with several psychopaths and their psychologists.

According to The Independent, Jared Leto is determined to outdo Heath Ledger’s performance of The Joker. This determination led to time spending with criminals who have done “horrendous crimes,” as well as playing cruel and twisted jokes on the Suicide Squad cast. In fact, Jared Leto would often give gifts and presents to the cast such as a live rat, pornographic material, used condoms and a dead pig.

Many people are wondering whether or not Jared Leto’s performance can compete with Heath Ledger’s portrayals of the Joker. However, Leto certainly has a tough act to follow in Suicide Squad. The late 27-year-old actor, Heath Ledger took the character to a whole new level by playing a dark psychopathic clown in The Dark Knight, which blew fans away.

Heath Ledger prepared for The Dark Knight by shutting himself in a hotel room for weeks on end while writing dark thoughts inside a diary. Heath admitted his role as the Joker would keep him up all night and filled him with anxiety and unable to sleep. It’s important to point out whether Ledger’s role as the Joker led to his accidental overdose and death.

Despite what happened to Heath, Jared seems focused as ever to make his role as the Joker in Suicide Squad to a new level.

“I did meet with people that were experts, doctors, psychiatrists that dealt with psychopaths and people who had committed horrendous crimes, and then I spent some time with those people themselves, people who have been institutionalized for great periods of time,” Jared said.
