Coronavirus: When Will Hollywood Go Back to Normal?

Date:

When will the Hollywood shutdown end?

Currently, no one knows when the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic will come to an end. Experts say the virus will run its course, and until the Pandemic is over, the economy will remain on life-support. Dr. Anthony Fauci stated, there is a tipping point on lockdown measures in the United States.

Fauci determined that “we need to make sure to keep an eye on the balance. If you are too stringent in things like lockdowns and keeping things under wraps for a long period of time, you may have the unintended consequence of triggering from an economic and society standpoint, such disruptions that you get things like poverty and health issues unrelated to Coronavirus that are really a serious concern … many people need medications.

“Many people are dependent on supply chains for nutrition, for food, that they might starve … if you dramatically interrupt that to the point that it no longer exists, the disruption of society can be really quite catastrophic. That’s one of the things you want to avoid. That’s one of the pushbacks you have when people say you really need to lock down everything indefinitely. Well, you might get an extra mile or two out of suppressing the virus there, but you got to make sure that you look at what the ultimate issue is … let’s be careful that we don’t do such a disruption to society that we really hurt it as much or more than we’re trying to prevent.”

Hollywood studios do not know when moviegoers will be able to return to theaters or when actors will be able to work on set. That said, AMC theaters are hoping to re-open by mid-June, while studios are rescheduling their movies for late summer in hopes things will be back to normal by August.

Paramount Studios is betting families will be ready to get out of their houses and excited to see a movie by July 31st, which is when ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run’ hits theaters. However, Paramount Studios is taking a more conservative approach with Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, which had an original release date. Now, the ‘Top Gun’ sequel will be pushed to December 23rd.

‘A Quiet Place Part 2’ will hit theaters Labor Day weekend on September 4th. Usually, Labor Day is a slow box office day, but Paramount is hoping audiences will be excited to go to theaters that weekend the weekend before kids are supposed to go back to school.

Disney still has ‘Soul’ set for a release on June 19th and Ryan Reynolds’ next movie has a premiere on the 4th of July. ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel was moved to August 14th, as Warner Bros. hopes everything is better by August.
