Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL quarterback who has not been on a team for almost a year, is being sought by a major casting director for an upcoming production.
The director, who TMZ did not name in the report, is currently working on a TV pilot as well as the “Uncle Drew” movie, which will feature Kyrie Irving as his Pepsi-commercial, basketball-loving, senior citizen character.
The Uncle Drew movie may be a great fit for the athlete. The movie filmed in Atlanta and is an obvious fit for Kaepernick and has already featured appearances from top athletes such as Shaq, Reggie Miller, Chris Webber and Lisa Leslie.
Three years ago, Kaepernick signed a six-year, $126 million extension with San Francisco after taking the Niners to the Super Bowl.
He opted out of the deal in March, after making headlines for being the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem, a non-violent form of protest that has swept through the league ever since.
If Kaepernick does get the role he is being sought for, it would be his first role on the small or big screen.
