Actors and actresses reveal if they were told to lose weight for a movie role.

Do you think Hollywood puts unfair pressure on actors and actresses to lose weight for a movie role? It may be hard to say but, several A-list actors were told to lose weight. However, while many actors would do anything to keep their acting jobs, these actors fought back. In fact, Underworld actress Kate Beckinsale revealed that Michael Bay asked her to lose weight before filming Pearl Harbor, even though she just had a baby. The sad part is that she is not the first actress told to lose weight for a movie role.

Here are 6 actors and actresses who were told to lose weight for a movie role.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence maybe the highest paid actress in Hollywood but, when she was cast as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games producers told her that she would have to lose weight or she would get fired. However, Lawrence replied by saying: “Go f**K yourself.”

2. Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale revealed she was asked to lose weight for a role on Pearl Harbor. Michael Bay was not satisfied with her physique and told her if she wanted the part she would have to lose weight and join a gym.

Before Kim Kardashian’s body made international headlines, Jennifer Lopez’s body was one of the most talked about physiques in Hollywood. But, her ex-manager told her that she was too fat and needed to lose weight for him to continue to represent her. Jennifer said: “No, this is who I am and this is the type of woman that I grew up with, and it’s beautiful. There’s no reason to be anybody but myself.”

4. Jason Segel

Jason Segel was told he needed to lose at least 35 pounds to star in the movie The Five-Year Engagement, co-starring Emily Blunt. They suggested it would look unrealistic that the two actors could possibly be in a relationship with each other because she was so attractive and Jason was considered overweight.

5. Margot Robbie

In an interview with OK! Magazine Margot Robbie revealed she was told that she need to lose weight in order to make it in Hollywood. Apparently, Margot admitted to not eating the best and made adjustments to her eating and exercise routine in order to land more acting jobs.

6. Carrie Fisher and the original cast of Star Wars

The Star Wars actress, Carrie Fisher, revealed that she was ordered to lose weight in order to reprise her role in The Force Awakens, and while she did, she made sure it didn’t let it define her as a person. In fact, Fisher said “We treat beauty like an accomplishment and that is insane.” Fisher was not alone, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford were both asked to lose weight for the role in the Star Wars movie.
