Sony is reportedly making a “Spider-Man” spinoff focusing on a comic book character Madame Web.
According to Collider, Sony is working on a new movie based on the “Spider-Man” universe after taking back the rights from Disney. Sony is reportedly working on a new character Madame Web. This news comes after Sony confirmed two upcoming “Spider-Man” spinoffs already including a “Venom” sequel and “Morbius” starring Jared Leto. The news report also suggests Sony will be producing the movie with the help of “Morris” writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Who is Madame Web?
Madame Web first appeared in “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 1980. Her real name is Cassandra Web, and she was born a mutant in Salem Oregon. Afflicted by a neuromuscular disease, which made her paralyzed and blind, Web develops psychic abilities such as precognition, telepathy, and clairvoyance. Madame Web earned her name from the life support machine she is constantly hooked to due to her disease.
