Lily-Rose Depp takes the lead in HBO’s new movie “The Idol” as a pop star who has lost her way. The trailer showcases Depp’s character on a journey to rediscover herself and reclaim the fame she once had.
HBO’s new drama, The Idol, stars Lily-Rose Depp as an iconic pop star determined to reclaim her place on the stage.
Accompanied by the Britney Spears hit “Gimme More,” the video opens with Jocelyn (Depp) on a photoshoot set, transitioning to an unnamed character – played by Troye Sivan – inquiring about when there was last an authentically ‘nasty and bad’ pop diva. This sets up Jocelyn’s impending rebranding and triumphant return as a star in her own right.
Her journey of redemption, however, is a collaborative venture. After running into Jocelyn on the dance floor, nightclub owner Tedros (The Weeknd) begins to court her and makes it his mission to help her get back into music.
“After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros, a nightclub impresario with a sordid past,” Here’s the scoop on The Idol: “Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?”
The Weeknd, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson have crafted a controversial show that will debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month before being released on HBO Max on June 4. This much-anticipated project will be an exciting event for film lovers everywhere!
Joining Depp and The Weeknd is an array of impressive talent, including Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef Mike Dean Moses Sumney Rachel Sennott Ramsey, and more.
