Jessica Chastain has reportedly been offered the lead role in True Detective Season 2.
According to The Nerdist, Jessica Chastain was recently offered a role in the Nic Pizzolatto crime drama:
Recent rumors have stated series creator Nic Pizzolatto was seeking a female-driven cast for Season 2 of the hit HBO series, and now today, Nerdist has learned exclusively one of the names that may be on the bill in 2015: Jessica Chastain.
According to sources, the Zero Dark Thirty actress has been offered a leading role in the second season but has yet to accept. As for official confirmation, we reached out to representatives for Chastain, who have declined to comment at this time.
After receiving high reviews at the Cannes Film Festival, working on an upcoming Marilyn Monroe film, and the new Interstellar movie coming soon, Chastain is on the fast track to becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood.
According to Deadline, Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company, a film studio that produces some of the biggest movies in Hollywood, recently told his marketing team it has been a long time since he’d seen performances like these, and that they were to start working on the Oscar campaign strategy for Chastain.
With the recent success of Matthew McConaughey’s role in HBO’s ‘True Detective’ actors all across the United States were campaigning for roles in the TV series.
Jessica Chastain played several guest roles in TV shows before making her feature film debut in 2008 in the independent film Jolene. In 2011, she gain public recognition for starring roles in severe feature films. But, her performance in The Help, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. But, her lead performance in the 2012 thriller film, Zero Dark Thirty, Chastain became a household name and her acting was highly praised by critics.
It is also rumored that Brad Pitt was offered a role in HBO’s True Detective. HBO is setting up for a second season to top Harrelson and McConaughey first season.
