Jared Leto really thinks he’ll be locked away for his playing the Joker in Suicide Squad.
We have several months until we will ever see Batman v. Superman but, the buzz and anticipation for what Zack Snyder is calling the sequel to Man of Steel is very high. However, it feels like the social media teaser is causing more people to get upset rather than excited.
According to Heroic Hollywood, Leto recently performed with his band 30 Seconds to Mars at a concert in Dubai and addressed the crowd regarding his on-screen performance, which he allegedly thinks is pretty insane:
I can’t wait for you to see this – they’re going to lock me away in a box after this movie comes out.
Sure this is a pretty narcissistic statement coming from Leto, but let’s not forget he won an Oscar for his role in the Dallas Buyers Club. And the actor is known for truly getting into character. He sent his co-stars gifts that featured live rats and bullets, made a video for everyone that featured a dead pig, and completely terrified Margot Robbie while on set.
There have been rumors comparing Jared Leto’s JOker to that of Hannibal Lecter, and while I do not believe he will be eating a ton of people, it feels like this comparison may actually be true. Given how amazing Mads Mikkelsen was at reinventing that character for TV, it is very possible that Jared Leto will bring a new level of acting to the Joker.
Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5th, 2016.
