Jake Gyllenhaal reveals how he bombed his auditioned for Lord of the Rings.
Jake Gyllenhaal is one of Hollywood’s most talented actors. His movies not only rock box offices but, entertain millions of people around the world. And while he has made some amazing movies these last few years, Lord of the Rings director, Peter Jackson called him the worst actor he has ever seen.
While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jake Gyllenhaal discussed auditions that didn’t go too well. Apparently, there were a ton. One of the worst experiences Jake Gyllenhaal ever had was when he auditioned for the role of Frodo for the Lord of the Rings movies. He says his agents were super excited to get him the audition. So excited they forgot to give him the details behind the movie’s character and the movie audition. Needless to say, the oversight led to a bad experience with the director. As Gyllenhaal recalls:

He literally turned to me and said, ‘You are the worst actor that I have ever seen.’ He said, ‘Did anyone tell you you were supposed to have an accent?’ I was like, ‘No!’ And he said, ‘Well, fire your agents.’
That was a pretty harsh response. Jake Gyllenhaal was not “one of” the worst actors Peter Jackson had ever seen, but actually “the worst.”
But, that’s not the first time Gyllenhaal had a bad audition. Apparently, the actor auditioned for the Ashton Kutcher movie Dude, Where’s My Car? and completely bombed the role. Gyllenhaal had an idea for a character with a lisp and it completely backfired in the audition room.
