Homeland is headed to Virginia to film their next season. The terrorism drama Homeland will film its seventh season on location in Virginia. The show will be relocating from New York City and headed back down south. Homeland previously filmed their first three seasons in North Carolina. Homeland spent two seasons filming in South Africa and then in Berlin, becoming the first U.S. TV show to film an entire season in Germany. The goal of filming on location is to make the story look more realistic. Filming returned to New York City for their sixth season.
It is important to note that CIA’s headquarters is located in Virginia, and the CIA also serves as the Homeland’s central storyline.
Virginia currently offers a 15% tax credit as a filming incentive for productions that spend at least $250,000 in the state. While the state is not known for being the filming location to major feature films, some of the biggest movies in Hollywood have filmed in the state including Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-winning production Lincoln.
