For an HBO Max DC Comics adaptation, the ‘DMZ’ trailer finds Rosario Dawson in a war-torn NYC.
The next DC Comics show to be a critical success is season 3 of the popular HBO Max series, The Deuce. The first trailer for the Ava DuVernay-produced program stars Rosario Dawson as Alma, a medic looking for her missing son across a post-apocalyptic New York City during the Second Civil War. Alma’s search will be no small obstacle, as the trailer depicts since she must deal with a variety of forces that have seized control of the city. There’s also the matter of Ben Bratt’s Dawson to consider. The charismatic actor is set to play Matty, Alma’s former fiancé and leader of a group of rebels.

Based on the Vertigo/DC Comics series of the same name, DMZ will be a four-part drama that began streaming in its entirety this month, which should please binge-watchers. With the recent release of The Batman and the aforementioned John Cena program, DMZ undoubtedly appears to be on track to becoming the next DC Comics blockbuster, following a string of much-needed successes as a result of the lately released The Batman and aforementioned John Cena show.
At the same time, DMZ will have a difficult task ahead of it. Y: The Last Man, the final Vertigo adaptation set in a dystopian world, didn’t last long, so it’ll be fascinating to see whether DMZ is able to connect with viewers like Y: The Last Man was unable to.
HBO’s DMZ filmed in Atlanta, Georgia in 2021. Check out the casting calls here.
