‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Lead Role Casting Call Leaks Online

Date:

Star Wars spinoff is now casting thousands of actors for the role of Han Solo.

Thousands of aspiring actors are currently auditioning for the role of a lifetime. According to reports, Hollywood’s top actors such as Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ansel Elgort and Dave Franco are trying to play a young Harrison Ford in the Star Wars spinoff.

Apparently, a list of big and small name actors auditioning for the role of Harrison Ford has leaked online and it illustrates and interesting side to the Star Wars casting process.

According to reports, Disney and Lucasfilm are searching the country searching for an actor who will play a young Han Solo in the planned Star Wars spinoff movie.

According to sources close to THR reveal that more than 2,500 actors have auditioned with casting director Jeanne McCarthy in order to find the man to play Han Salo, the character made famous by Harrison Ford in the first Star Wars trilogy and The Force Awakens, which opens December 18th. In fact, one source is quoted saying, “This has been the easiest movie to audition for,” says an agent with a client who has auditioned. “They are seeing everyone.”

Here is the list of actors who have auditioned so far according to THR:

Actors who have read in person or auditioned via videotape range from the well-known (Dave Franco, 30, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 25, and Miles Teller, 28) to the sort-of-known (Jurassic World‘s Nick Robinson, 20) to relative unknowns (Kickin’ It‘s Leo Howard, 18, and The Purge‘s Tony Oller, 24) and also vary significantly in age. Though sources say the “sweet spot” seems to be the mid-20s, the ages of the contenders span from Chandler Riggs, the 16-year-old star of The Walking Dead, to Hunter Parrish, 28, and Mr. Robot star Rami Malek, 34.

The long list of potential actors will be cut down as directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who worked on the Jump Street Films, search for the next Han Solo. While the movie isn’t expected to start filming until January 2017 for a May 2018 release, so there is plenty of time for casting director, McCarthy to make a decision.

Casting directors are also said to be looking for someone who looks like a younger version of Harrison Ford and can be funny and charming as well as handle the expected action scenes. Therefore, casting directors are even auditioning comedians.

This is completely different than how J.J. Abrams found the leading actors for The Force Awakens. Previously, an international casting search for the two lead roles in the movie sparked international hysteria with thousands upon thousands of people auditioning for a role in the next Star Wars movie.

The Han Solo movie is top-secret and has a mystery code name of “Red Cup,” a reference to college party cups.
