Amidst the ongoing transformation of the DC Universe under the stewardship of new co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, fans of the iconic character Wonder Woman can take heart in the news that Gal Gadot‘s portrayal of the superhero is likely to return.
Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins had been actively developing “Wonder Woman 3” before the recent changes in DC’s management. However, Jenkins had to step away from the project due to creative differences with Warner Bros. executives, leading to uncertainty about the movie’s future.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Gal Gadot expressed her deep affection for the character, stating, “I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close and dear to my heart. I hear from James and Peter that we will develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.”
Last December, TheWrap reported exclusively that Jenkins, who directed the groundbreaking “Wonder Woman” in 2017 and its 2020 sequel “Wonder Woman 1984,” parted ways with the film after her treatment for “Wonder Woman 3” did not receive approval from Warner Bros. Film Group co-chairpersons Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.
While the franchise’s future might have appeared uncertain, the good news is that James Gunn is actively shaping the DC Universe’s reboot. His upcoming film, “Superman: Legacy,” set for release in July 2025, is the first installment in this new direction. Following that, fans can expect “The Batman II,” with Robert Pattinson reprising his role as the Caped Crusader, as well as a series of interconnected films, including a different Batman film titled “The Brave and the Bold,” helmed by “The Flash” filmmaker Andy Muschietti. Additionally, David Corenswet is set to play the new Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan will portray Lois Lane.
Gunn has hinted that some characters from Zack Snyder’s previous DC Universe iteration might continue to be part of his rebooted universe, sparking excitement among fans about potential crossovers and connections.
Gal Gadot debuted as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and recently reprised her role in “The Flash,” further solidifying her place as an integral part of the DC film franchise.
As the DC Universe evolves under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran, fans eagerly await the return of Wonder Woman in the highly anticipated “Wonder Woman 3,” anticipating another thrilling chapter in the iconic superhero’s journey.
